The Twilight Zone

Created and hosted by Rod Serling, The Twilight Zone is an anthology series airing over CBS on Friday evenings, beginning Oct. 2, 1959, and running until June 19, 1964.

The half-hour episodes ~ with hour-long episodes during the series’ fourth season (1963) ~ dealt with science-fiction and supernatural stories, often with a moral and a surprise ending.

Of the series’ 156 episodes over five seasons, Rod Serling wrote or co-wrote 92 episodes.

Taking roles in the series were established actors, such as Burgess Meredith, Mickey Rooney, and Art Carney, as well as performers, such as William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, and Julie Newmar, whose careers were just beginning.

Released on June 5, 2012, Twilight Zone: The Complete Series contains the complete series on Blu-Ray, as well as many special features, including audio commentaries, stills, home movies, and such Rod Serling extras as a blooper reel and a copy of his script, “Twenty-Two” with his hand-written notes.
